Charities We Support
In years past, the GC Media & Corporate Club has raised thousands of dollars in funds for local charities, specifically related to children. In 2006, the nominated charity was RACQ CareFlight Queensland and last year, the Club donated $5000 in equipment to the Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Nippers.
Aussie Kidz
In early 2000, after more than ten years of supporting various well known charities and seeing the increasing percentage of donations being used to cover overheads, David Dahl and Ross Tisch decided it was time to have a charity where 100% of the donations received would be used for grants of equipment and services for our disabled and disadvantaged children. All overheads and running costs would be kept to an absolute minimum and be borne in most part by the founding Directors and surpluses from functions held.
The charity received Australian Taxation Office endorsement as a Deductible Gift Recipient in May 2001 which means it can issue Tax Deductible Receipts for all donations over $2 and subsequently it received its registration as a charity from the Office of Fair Trading, which enables it to conduct appeals for support in Queensland.
Since receiving its registrations, the Board has been joined by some very experienced Directors who meet on a regular basis. They have formed committees for the various tasks which they identify within the management of the business and members and friends are encouraged to step forward and assist to whatever extent they can, in regards to committees.
Aussie Kidz plans to remain a small boutique charity, gaining support and donations through direct solicitation of individuals, corporates and estate trusts and through the support of varied and innovative social events run by supporters.Members enjoy the charity’s socials and recommend Aussie Kidz to their friends and business associates.
Since inception, Aussie Kidz has raised significant funds and made over 150 grants to qualifying individuals including walking frames, specialised computer equipment, special clothing, medication and treatments, mobility aids and general assistance to these very special people.

We hope to raise not only funds, but the profile of the Club among the Gold Coast and broader community via our members and their contacts in media.
